AI Won’t Take Your Job; I Might
Are you afraid of losing your job to automation and artificial intelligence? I get it. We often hear headlines proclaiming that AI will replace human workers across various industries. There is no denying that AI is reshaping the job market and we can’t predict where it will lead, but it's essential to understand a crucial distinction: AI won't take your job; someone who understands AI will take your job. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a disruptive shift in work. Calculations used to be done on paper in a room full of people with a slide rule. It’s one of my favorite scenes from the movie Apollo 13 when the computers double-check the match. People who used to do math by hand were replaced by people who could use technology to do it. People who used to manage finances in big notepads were replaced by people who could use spreadsheets. History has historically shown us a short-term disruption, followed by increased prosperity.
